Senior Environmental Specialist - Belvidere, IL

OVERVIEWActs as a coach and advisor to the site, providing support and technical assistance in the administration of and compliance with federal, state, local, and company S&E requirements.
Leads improvements to environmental processes, PSM program, and sustainability initiatives.
This position supports Belvidere and Geneva locations and could require travel of approximately 10%.
The Geneva site currently produces products for our Betty Crocker operations and will be integrated into General Mills operations in early 2024.
The site is also receiving a major investment for growth in Fruit Snacks (Gushers and Fruit by the Foot) with Project Panther, scheduled to start up in Q2 F25.
After integration, and startup of Fruit, the site will have approximately 500 employees and support both the MBS and Snacks Operating units with just under 500,000 sq ft of production and warehouse space.
The Belvidere site is a manufacturing facility of appx.
700 employees serving the Snacks Operating Unit and North America Foodservice(NAF) Segment.

Recently, we added Natural bars and Fruit by the Foot production into our portfolio after divesting Green Giant, which concluded over 120 years of vegetable growing and manufacturing.
We are continuing to evolve to a more complex product portfolio to meet the changing needs of our consumers and customers (organic, non-GMO, new packing formats).
We also have, Direct Product Ship(DPS) on site, serving our North American Foodservice customers with cereal.
The Belvidere plant is a very strategic and critical plant to both the NAR and NAF Segments and continues to be a magnet for investment and growth.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Serves as the site technical advisor and lead resource for environmental compliance.
Implements, maintains, and assesses Environmental standards and procedures in accordance with company S&E requirements.
Ensures compliance with all applicable environmental regulations and permits.
Completes and submits all required environmental reports for the facility.
Assists in managing the environmental operations budget.
Leads ongoing site improvements as related to environmental compliance.
Manages regulatory aspects of process safety and ammonia refrigeration management program.
Ensures the impact of regulatory changes on the businesses are being managed.
Leads initiatives to support Corporate sustainability goals.
Actively participates in change management such as relocation, modification, and decommissioning of any affected facility, equipment, or process.
Identifies and evaluates environmental risk arising from new chemicals, products, and manufacturing changes.
Provides support to the site to address regulatory inspections and complaints.
Aids in the investigation of significant incidents (fire, chemical releases, fatalities, severe or multiple injuries, etc.
) and follow-up on corrective actions ensuring information is shared throughout the Company to prevent re-occurrence.
Reports company-required environmental and sustainability metrics at required frequencies in GSTEMS.
Maintains knowledge of applicable environmental regulations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related degree with applicable experience or extensive relevant work experience Five (5) years of site-level leadership and program management experience.
Knowledge of wastewater treatment and process safety/risk management.
Solid interpersonal, coaching, influencing, and project management skills.
Strong written and oral communication skills Proficient in computer software applications.
Working knowledge of local regulations and the ability to interpret technical documents.
Experience in food and beverage manufacturing or related field.

Salary RangeThe salary range for this position is $104700.
00 - $157200.
